The 42nd
For as long as I have been smoking, I have equated the practice with flying. From comics depicting my friend's and I going up through the levels of high, to making nose art for pieces and masks, the theme was always present in my expression of the culture.
So, when it came time to overhaul my decade old metal bong, she ended up with the paint job of a B-17. OD green overall, with a grey bottom, roundel, and pinup nose art, my BCL was granted a new lease on life. When the FTR came into existence, it was only natural to continue that tradition for my personal collection.
With every new bong design, I would paint up the prototype in my typical fashion and test it vigorously, jokingly referring to the process as a “shakedown cruise”. When the designs were finalized for production, that prototype would find a new home, and I would print a new pipe for personal use. With each personal bong, a plane would be selected, and I would paint it up. When a name was chosen, I would draw up nose art and carefully add it to the bong.
I enjoyed the process so much that it became something I offer here on the VFP website. A unique spin on my indestructible bongs, when you choose the 42nd Edition you are joining a small group of individuals. The artwork is all done by hand; we do not use decals or wraps to achieve the look, I replicate your chosen plane as near to the original scheme as possible.
From the WW2 planes that I am personally fond of to modern aircraft, we strive to bring the most authentic representation of your chosen craft to life, and then some. Unit patches, pinups, stylized text… If you want it, we’ll strive to make it a reality.
Naturally there are limitations to what I will do, such as refusing to paint hateful political symbols (swastikas and the hammer and sickle). Beyond that, the sky is the limit with the 42nd Edition.
