The Valley Forge brand has existed since 2012 when I first created a production model of an indestructible metal bong, but the story starts a few years before that. I had found enjoyment in designing smoking apparatus while in college, not merely modifying something to make it work, but purpose-built creations that solved common issues. I focused on attachments and improvements to get more out of existing glass pipes, reasoning that glassware would always be readily available. I was wrong when it came to my bong which broke while I was moving back home, and I was not able to find a replacement for it in the headshops. So, I decided to build one that could not break. Dubbed Behemoth, what I created was an all-metal modular bong with a simple clip together reservoir and screw-off neck. That bong survived a year in service to a band and generated a lot of interest, so I improved the design and created two BCLs, a production model Behemoth. The first sold quickly, the second did not, and with no interest from the local headshops, I claimed it for myself and focused on other endeavors. For the next decade, I would be challenged to create some smoking device or another, but it was more of a favor and less a business. Even after purchasing a 3D printer, my thoughts were not about business but convenience, the ability to create anything I needed. A bad month created a need for a more effective bubbler, so I tried my hand at designing one and succeeded. With the simple design of the XB-22-2, I was able to make variations to the outside while maintaining the form and function of the pipe, resulting in the BLR-22 line of bubblers. A product I determined would be worth selling, so I revived my brand, added Printworks, and looked for online marketplaces to ply my wares. Unable to list my products on Etsy, and no where near large enough to justify reaching out to Smoke Cartel, I started the website and began work on a more ambitious product. My all-metal bong had served me well for a decade, she deserved retirement, so I designed one on the principles that created the Behemoths: rugged, modular, and effective. The result was the FTR, with classic lines and a windowless reservoir, it quickly became my favorite pipe. A larger version that incorporated windows came next and led to the adoption of uniform parts for the neck and slide. Finally, a mid-sized model was created. It just seemed right to have three. Even while I was creating pipe designs, other projects were being completed. I made Astronaut figures and a rover for my nephew, designed and distributed trophies for gaming competitions, and most recently I began experimenting with simple signage. If it is something we can do, we will do it.
